Junior&Family dentists recommend pulpectomy as a treatment plan:

  • as an emergency intervention when the patient has a lot of pain, both for the milk teeth and for the permanent ones;
  • in case of pulpotomy failure in adult permanent teeth;
  • in the case of irreversible pulpitis with pain, in young permanent teeth;
  • in the case of teeth that can be restored, the loss of bone tissue is not too great;
  • when the patient is healthy and cooperative.

The treatment is performed with local anesthesia and involves the removal of old restorative materials, the repair of the root canals and their obturation.

The alternative to the pulpectomy procedure is tooth extraction, but the space left free will cause migration of adjacent teeth. The empty space can be replaced with a dental implant or dental bridge.
